Popa Chubby
Popa Chubby, born Ted Horowitz, has been hard rocking the blues in his fierce, soulful way for more than 30 years. Since 1994, he has been a force on guitar, with a style he describes as 'the Stooges meets Buddy Guy, Motörhead meets Muddy Waters, and Jimi Hendrix meets Robert Johnson.' A native New Yorker, Horowitz began in the NYC punk scene, performing at CBGB alongside acts such as Ramones and The Cramps, shaping a performance style rooted in rock as theater. The blues remains the foundation of his playing. Drawing on early influences like Hendrix, Cream, and Led Zeppelin, he brings a direct, unfiltered approach that continues to evolve, maintaining a dedicated international audience and a lasting presence in contemporary blues.
