One of the architects of Tropicalismo and a defining voice of Brazilian culture for over six decades, Gilberto Gil has shaped generations through songs that blend Bahia's traditions with global sounds --- samba, reggae, pop, rock, and Afro-Brazilian rhythms --- creating a musical language that is unmistakably his own.
